So let's all try to stay positive. I know it's difficult for some of you out there but stranger things have happened (Red Sox). We need to end this curse.

Go Cubs Go

Not Quite as Much Excitement Today

The fate of the Cubs lies on the shoulders of Rich Hill. IF he gets it done, I presume Zambrano pitches on Sunday? He will be money in Wrigley - not sure if the Cubs can score against Webb though. If they do - who pitches in AZ? Surely not Lilly. How about Wood for 3, Marmol for 3, Howry, Eyre, (and god help us) Dempster.

Two Words

Remember 1984...up 2-0, feeling good....it's gonna happen, not how we wanted to start the series but stay positive.

ADAM

Either be a fan or shut the hell up.

I've given up - watching 30 Rock

Milf Island - a new show - a classic. Lilly sucks.

It is a New Game

Lilly has some confidence back. Need some runs in the 4th

Lilly - YOU SUCK!!!

Lilly - did you see how a pitcher is suppose to sacrifice?

learn to bunt.

Where's Paul

Not at home, that's for sure. We need Lilly to calm down.

Alfonso! 2 K's

Why would any pitcher ever throw Alfonso anything other than a curve ball? Reminds me of the Giants 3rd baseman from the year the Cubs played the giants in the playoffs (Matt something??). Could not hit a curve ball if his life depended on it. So Fontenot gets tired of him fouling off his curve ball and tries to sneak by an 85 mph fast ball - BAM - 3 run home run.

Soto!!!!!

With one swing, the rookie catcher doubles the team's offensive output of last night.

And what a beautiful swing it was.

Derek Lee

Will he become the next Leon Durham?

Bottom of the 1st

Little bit touch and go there for a second. But it could be big that Lilly was able to get out of the jam without giving up anything. I'm thinking he'll come out a lot more confident in the next inning.

The countdown

2 hours until first pitch. Any predictions? I'm thinking it's going to be a big night for Ramy, Lilly and the Riot

Back in the Saddle

On the Blog again

Always Interesting to see who shows up for Postseason Play

I was glad Zambrano pitched well last night. If you recall, we was staked with a good lead in game one against the Fish - and gave that away. Good game.

I was surprised he only pitched 6 innings.

Disappointing that he led off an inning with a double and they couldnt get him in. Runs are at a premium in the post season - did Alfonso try to bunt him over?
Why was Jacques Jones batting 2nd? Has he batted 2nd at all this year? I wonder about Lou's decision making process last night.
Big night for Lilly.
Patrick - you are right - this team is hard to watch - very undisciplined hitters - Lee striking out 3 times is just stupid.
I need to find something to do tonight between 7-10 pm.

Final

Some disappointment in this game. I still think the Cubs can win the series, but they need to take advantage of their opportunities and score some runs. But I'm staying positive. Need to win tomorrow.

Bottom of the 7th

The pitching change didn't work out the way Lou planned.
And I have to ask, why did Zambrano need to come out? According to ESPN, he had only thrown 85 pitches. And why let him hit with the bases loaded if you're only gonna keep him in for one more inning.
I'm not wild about the way that all went down.

The Big Hurt?

In the studio?
Was he known for his cerebral approach to the game?

There is always time to drink...

Keep that in mind...
Starting with a hit is good...good going Choi..I mean Lee

Zambrano's pitching Style

He is pitching so fast I DON'T HAVE A CHANCE TO BREATH.... MUCH LESS TIME ENOUGH TO GO TO THE FRIDGE TO REFILL MY TANQUERAY AND TONIC

Great Play

Plays like that make me happy!!!!!!!!!!!!

Question

Why is Zambrano the only Cub who's trying to take the ball to the opposite field?

He's hit it on the button twice, and yet everyone else insists on pulling these weak grounders.

Z swinging away...

Bad Choice by Lou? We'll see.

Drew Carey's Child?

One Mistake is too many for this type of pitcher's duel.

Dammit!!

Who the hell is Stephen Drew?

Sonic Commercials

How does everyone feel about them?

I think I might be a fan. Not laugh out loud funny, but pretty clever. They're absurd and ridiculous, kinda like our family dinners.

Top of the 3rd

Big Z led off with a beautiful double. To be honest, I think he was thinking triple. Of course, the top of the order left him sitting on second.

How, exactly, did you guys watch this team all season? This is difficult. I'm drinking quickly.

Postscript - They just showed Muhammed Ali. Love that guy.

Top oof the Second...No damage done

Except to the Wine cellar.

Bottom First

Two Out, one Chardonnay down.

Cubs only need 11 more wins!
